Dhaka Dental College was established in 1961 at the Dhaka Medical College and then shifted to Mirpur to it's own campus in 1994. It is the most prestigious dental college in Bangladesh and has a well equipped 200 bed hospital named Dhaka Dental College & Hospital (DDCH). Dhaka Dental College and Hospital (DDCH) is now the largest dental educational institution in modern Bangladesh.

University of Sumatera Utara (USU) was founded in 1952 in the form of a foundation and granted state university status in 1957. The Faculty of Dentistry, (USU FKG) was established on 3 November 1961. The Faculty has ten departments, namely the Department of Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral Surgery,  Dental Conservation, Periodontics, Oral Disease, Pediatric Dental Health, Oral Biology, Dental Material and Technology, Preventive Dentistry / Community Dentistry and one unit i.e. the Dental Radiology Unit.

UNIVERSITAS PADJADJARAN's Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) was formed on 1 September 1959. In 2003 it established its International classes for foreign students mostly from Malaysia.
